In my 20s I was diagnosed with multiple food and chemical sensitivities, Hypoglycemia, various deficiencies in essential nutrients and progressively with immune deficiencies. The treatment for these things amounted to living in what I call The Dietary Wheelchair; a very different type of social disability, but one which in my case allowed, ironically, for so much more stability, ability and health than before.
The Dietary Wheelchair lecture explores what its like to live with the challenges of gut and immune disorders. It looks into the issues behind dietary interventions and supplements that can act as the 'sticky tape' that holds together some people's lives. Beyond this, this program explores the emotional feelings and social impact of being someone 'condemned to' or choosing to stick to such interventions; the dietary wheelchair, what the advantages can be and ways of compensating. Most importantly, it is a humorous and light-hearted support of those who share this situation so that they may know they are not alone.
